Snow White, The Queen's Fair Daughter

For Raleigh Little Theatre's production of Snow White, The Queens Fair Daughter, Mindtracs created the mirror effects using a live action rear-screen video projection syste. We also developed a soundscape featuring a musical theme for each of the principle characters and envionmental sounds to reinforce the locations.

The projection was accomplished using Sony standard definition camcorders feeding a video signal via FireWire to a Mac mini running QLab software

QLab fed the video signal to an Optima projector set up in a rear screen configuration and projecting onto a black Rosco PVC screen fitted into the sets mirror surround.

So that the actor playing the mirror could interact with the characters on stage, a teleprompter system was modified to accept a camera input from a hiden device on-stage. A microphone built into the mirror frame picked up the dialog from the on -stage characters and fed an IFB earpiece worn by the Mirror actor.

The voice of the mirror came from a lavilier mic feeding a Mackie mixer and a DigiTech Vocal 300 to produce the desired vocal sound. A speaker wias built into the set under the mirror to provide the localized sound of the actor's voice coming from the Mirror.
